The South African Cyber Security Academic Alliance (SACSAA), in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), University of Johannesburg (UJ) and the University of South Africa (UNISA), is hosting the first National Cyber Security Week in October this year.
During this week Cyber Security Researchers from the member institutions, with the aid of sponsoring corporate partners, will be hosting various activities to help foster cyber security awareness amongst South Africans. Cyber Security Awareness “packages” will be distributed to participating schools in both Gauteng and the Eastern Cape. These packages will include:
- workbooks for learners and educators
- awareness raising posters and board games
- pledge forms and badges for learners
- security incident reporting forms
- and other cyber security related materials
In addition SACSAA members will host Cyber Security displays in shopping complexes, visit schools to promote Cyber Security Awareness, give talks on local and national radio stations regarding Cyber Security, and run a nation wide Cyber Security Poster design competition.
